NUC Arrests Fake Professor Who Tried to Open an Illegal University in Nigeria!

According to Thisday Newspaper, a fake Professor of Statistics has been nabbed by the National Universities Commission (NUC) after suspicions were aroused during interactions for his bid to establish a private university, Nigeria British University.

The man whose name was simply given as Ambi P.N had claimed to be a professor of statistics from universities in Ghana and Nigeria. He had been invited for a meeting with NUC authorities to discuss the proposal for the university, which is to be situated in Lagos.

His professorial claims were questioned by the Executive Secretary of the NUC, Prof. Julius Okojie, during the interaction on Tuesday, after he gave conflicting statements. Ambi initially claimed to have obtained his professorship from the Obong University, Akwa Ibom State and studied at the University of Science and Technology, Kumasi Ghana up to PhD level.

He later claimed to have studied at the University of Ewe, Ghana and in a third account, he claimed to be a staff of Covenant University on sabbatical at Obong University. The NUC, in a statement, said enquiries were immediately made to Covenant and Obong Universities, both of which denied any knowledge of him.

Ambi, and two accomplices, had since been handed over to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, the statement read. The NUC noted that inviting the team for interaction was to ascertain their level of commitment to the proposed university, and to determine if application forms should be issued to them.

"Being mindful of the fact that his claims are false, his act amounts to a crime punishable by our laws" the NUC added.

Garba was sceptic about the masses because his father had specifically warned him not to follow the Whiteman's religion. Once, he had attempted to pray in his own religion and one boy had told him it was a big offence to pray in any other religion other than going to mass. Gradually, Garba was getting used to it. He knew his father would be alarmed.

After mass, there was a morning service which Mr. Jacobs officiated as usual. He always used an interpreter at such services. "As children of God, created by God, you must not commit sins. If you steal, you have committed sin, if you tell lies, you are a sinner, and every sinner will be cast into hell fire," Mr. Jacobs said. The interpreter translated. The Whiteman went on and on. "This man is also a sinner," Tanko whispered to Garba who was sitting close by. "If you know you have sinned against God by ....
