Don't bribe policemen, report them instead - IGP tells Nigerian
The new Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, says Nigerians should stop bribing policemen and instead report them if they ask for bribe. He made the statement today when asked today during a press briefing if bail in Nigeria was free.
"We have a zero tolerance for payment of money to free suspect. I am appealing to members of the public, not to corrupt my men; It takes two to tango. If they ask you for bribe and you refuse to give, and you have avenues where your grievances can be ventilated, I do not see any reason why you should give them bribe. The Commissioner of Police is there; the Area Commander is there; the DPO is there; and the technical platform (to report corrupt policemen) is there. We have opened ourselves to public accountability. So, you cannot now say the whole problem should be blamed on the police force'' he said.

Aisha Buhari calls for the adoption of the Child Rights act in every state
Wife of President-elect, Aisha Buhari has called on all states of the federation to implement the Child Rights Act which has been passed by the outgoing Senate with the view of protecting the rights of the Nigerian Child.

Mrs Buhari made this call in a statement released today to commemorate the International Children's Day tomorrow May 27th. The statement, signed by was signed by the director of the Buhari Campaign Organization, Garba Shehu "Even if it means adapting the act to suit their specific needs. The Child Rights Act must be adopted in every single state of our country"she said in the statement.


Mrs Buhari in the statement promised that no child will be left out of her husband's plans
"No child in Nigeria will be left out of my husband's plan for Nigeria," she said. "Every child in every geopolitical zone of the country will be taken care of by the APC federal government."

Taylor Swift becomes the youngest person to make Forbes' list of the world's most powerful women
25 year old singer and songwriter Taylor Swift has become the youngest woman ever to be included on the Forbes list of The World's 100 Most Powerful Women at number 64.

Forbes said Taylor Swift has changed the nature of celebrity by posting personally on Twitter and Instagram and making time to engage with her fans or 'Swifties'.


It also cited her controversial decision to pull her music from the streaming service Spotify. 
Forbes credited Taylor for her business savviness as well as for her creative artistry
'There's no denying that she's one of the most significant cultural influencers of our time,' Forbes said. 
Taylor looked happy as she left her New York City apartment Tuesday after hearing she's officially one of the most powerful women in the world.

In putting her on the list, Forbes said it's clear the musician is 'one of the most significant cultural influencers of our time'
Taylor's 1989 album sold three and a half million copies in 2014. In November, in a controversial move, she pulled all of her music from the streaming service Spotify.

Joining Taylor on the Forbes list are fellow celebrities Oprah Winfrey, the most powerful woman in entertainment ranking 12, Beyonce at 21 and Ellen DeGeneres at number 50, Angelina Jolie at number 54 and Sofia Vergara at number 57.

The world's most powerful woman remains German Chancellor Angela Merkel followed in second place by Hilary Clinton. First Lady Michelle Obama is 10th, Facebook's Sheryl Sandberg (8), Vogue's Anna Wintour (28), media publisher Arianna Huffington and designer Tory Burch and Queen Elizabeth II is at 41.

Elder Orubebe is at it again o! Remember his coalition centre drama? This time the PDP Chieftain and former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs took to twitter to say that he has concluded plans to move to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in order to improve the lot of Niger Delta in the coming administration.  

"I have concluded plans to join my folks in the APC to champion and sustain the movement for a better Niger Delta in the new administration," he said.

Ebola Cases On The Increase In Sierra Leone & Guinea- WHO
The World Health Organisation (WHO), confirmed on Tuesday that the Ebola virus is still raging in Sierra Leone and Guinea.

Bruce Aylward, WHO Special Representative for Ebola in Geneva, told a technical briefing attended by health ministers that there were 36 new cases in the past week, which is four times as many cases as the week before.

Aylward said the findings were an indication that the virus would not go quietly and it would take painstaking efforts.

Borno Govt Appeals To NEMA To Support Daily Feeding Of Over 500,000 IDPs
It appears that Borno state government might need the support of more individuals and corporate organisations to continue to sustain the daily feeding of over 500,000 Internally Displace Persons (IDP) in the state.

The Deputy Governor of Borno state, Alhaji Mustapha Zanna while receiving relief materials (worth about N7 million naira) from Nigeria Flour Mills today, appealed to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to take over the daily feeding of the IDPs in the state as it is becoming unbearable.

He said that the state government provides three square meals to the IDPs at the camps and that the current hardship in the country has also forced those residing outside into feeding at the camps.  Zanna further said that the exercise was eating deep into government purse, especially with the dwindling resources.


He said taking over the feeding by NEMA would enable the government concentrate on other areas such as provision of welfare, medical care and other essential services to the people.
