Cautious Jubilation Over Rumoured Death Of Top Ranking Terrorist Commander

As the battle to annihilate boko haram terrorists in the north east parts of the country intensifies with Nigerian troops in conjunction with allied forces from neighbouring countries gaining the upper hand, there is suppressed excitement about the reported death of a top ranking leader of the terrorists operating in the region.

PRNigeria sources at the frontline reported that the leader was a casualty of the ongoing heavy air bombardment from warplanes while clearing the way for the ground troops of multinational task force to move into some towns near one of the boarders.
A couple of weeks ago the military high command had obtained approval of political authorities in Abuja to go all out and clear the region of insurgency before the February general elections.

At a period when massive operations were to start however, the terrorists carried out simultaneous desperate and diversionary attacks on Maiduguri, Konduga and Monguno to both delay the commencement of planned military offensive and allow for the escape of their commanders holed around the axis.

Despite this however, the operations commenced and has been fierce with the cooperation of Chad, Niger and Cameroon who are all Nigeria's neighbours leading to the capture of many towns and villages previously infested by the terrorists.
Some of the towns include Gamboru-Ngala, Malamfatori, Abadam, Kirawa and Ashigashiya and Michika while the liberation of Gwaoza, Gulak and others may be announced any moment from now.

During these battles, some of the weapons captured from troops when the terrorists overran Baga, headquarters of the International Joint Task Force some weeks ago were recovered by Nigerian fighters.

It would be recalled that a leader of Boko Haram had in a video released shortly after the Baga attack boasted that his band captured world class sophisticated weaponry from Nigerian troops who he referred to as cowards.

Among the recovered weapons is a Battle Armoured Tank equipped with comprehensive protective system and maximum firing distance and accuracy with anti-aircraft rotating mount. Its fire accuracy is attained by range-finder, ballistic computer with a thermal barrel sleeve.

Several other weapons, arms and ammunition including variety of armoured vehicles and artillery guns as well as several Hilux vehicles were also captured from them.

However, a reliable security source confirmed the death of the top ranking leader during the air raid, but which authenticity was still being investigated by military authorities.

The leader was one of the senior officers in Boko Haram command to late founder of the group, Muhammed Yusuf.

When contacted, Defence Spokesperson, Major General Chris Olukolade declined to comment on the authenticity or otherwise of the report saying "as far as we are concerned, anybody that is associated with terrorism is a target and right now, we have a task of cleaning up the entire boko haram infested region and returning peace to the country.

One of the leaders of Boko Haram whose death has been controversial is Shekau. On 19 August 2013, the Joint Task Force (JTF) had announced the death of Shekau. They claimed he died of gunshots wounds received in an encounter with the JTF in one of their camps in Sambisa Forest on June 30, 2013. He was said to be mortally wounded in the encounter and was sneaked into Amitchide-a border community in Cameroon for treatment from which he never recovered.

Many months later, another character appeared in a video claiming to be Shekau but having different mannerisms, gait and character from the original Shekau.
Incidentally, the reign of this Shekau, termed Abubakar Shekau 11 by security sources, was short-lived as he was reportedly killed in a shootout with Nigerian troops in Konduga on Wednesday September 17, 2014.

Although video and still shots of the encounter were provided by military and independent sources, another character yet appeared in another video shortly afterwards, claiming to still be Abubakar Shekau. Military and security sources referred to him as Abubakar Shekau 111.

Young Boy Abducted, Starved, And Chained To Bed In Retaliation For Leaked Ekiti Election Rigging Audio

A copy of a petition provided to Sahara Reporters details the abduction and detainment of a young boy, Adamu Ishak Lawal Koli, at the military hospital of Adekunle Fanjuyi's Cantonment as retaliation against his brother, Captain Sagir Koli.

Sahara Reporters exclusively revealed that Capt. Koli leaked audio recordings of senior Peoples Democratic Party leaders planning to rig the Ekiti State gubernatorial elections last year. The young Adamu was chained to his bed and starved as a tactic to lure his brother Capt. Koli out from hiding.

The petition, submitted to the National Human Rights Commission of Nigeria, was authored by Barrister Chief K. Akinola Ajayi, and detailed the abduction of young Adamu Ishak Lawal Koli, who was only 15 years old and chained to his bed for nearly five months.

The family was "reliably informed that their son, (the young Adamu) was seen at the Military Hospital" where he was reportedly "chained to his bed."

Barrister Ajayi, who was sent on a fact-finding mission to the cantonment and hospital, said he was "denied access to the Young boy, as the military officers feigned ignorance of the presence of the Youngman (Adamu)."

The petition submitted to the Human Rights Commission stated that Adamu Lawal Koli is not a military officer and could not have violated any military law to warrant his detention, particularly being chained to his bed.

The petition concludes "if they found him [Adamu] in breach of any military instructions and or regulations because it would be unfair to transfer their anger against their fellow military officers to an innocent civilian." Adamu was under the supervision of his uncle, Captain Sagir Isah Koli who was stationed at that cantonment, according to the family.

Sahara Reporters calls to General Chris Olukolade, the Director of Defence Information, were not returned after he said he would investigate the issue. Brigadier General Momoh, the supervising officer of Capt. Koli, and who was bribed by PDP leaders would not answer his phone after repeated attempts.

How we determined authenticity of leaked tape on Ekiti election – U.S. firm

The New York-based security firm that helped analyse the voices of the characters in the shocking leaked recording on the rigged Ekiti election has given insight into how it determined the authenticity of the audio clip.

In a report, Guardian Consulting said it conducted a forensic examination on the discussion and compared the voices to public record samples of the known individuals.

In an interview with PREMIUM TIMES, Tom Fitzgerald, the President of the company, confirmed that his company did the investigation.

"I can confirm that we did the testing," Mr. Fitzgerald said.

He declined further comments, referring PREMIUM TIMES to a London-based firm, ATP Advisers, who he said gave his company the job. ATP Advisers could not be reached for comments.

According to his Linkedin profile, Mr. Fitzgerald was a former detective with the New York Police Detective [NYPD] and the Foreign Bureau of Investigation (FBI). He has over 30 years experience as a detective of repute.

Guardian Consulting Group LLC were engaged on Nov. 10 to conduct forensic examinations on an audio recording purported to be a private discussion among presumed Nigerian officials regarding disrupting an election ("The Recording"). The first phase of the engagement was to conduct analysis to identify the voices on The Recording by comparing them to public record samples of known individuals. The second phase was to judge the veracity of selected parts of the conversation to a degree of scientific survey.

Executive Summary of Findings:

IDENTIFICATION

The following voices from The Recording were subjected to a Forensic Voice Frequency Comparison against known samples and were found to match to a 98% degree of certainty:
• Governor Avo Favose
• Senator Iviola Omisore
• Hon. Abdulkareem
• Caleb Olubolade
The following voice from The Recording was subjected to a Forensic Voice Frequency Comparison against a known sample and was found to match to an 80% degree of certainty:
• Senator Musiliu Obanikoro
VERACITY
• Gov. Avo Favose was being truthful when he said: …there is no vehicle that left this place without that sticker.
• A person identified as Obanikoro with 80% of certainty was judged to be completely truthful when he said to a person identified as Abdul Kareem: If am a happy man tomorrow night, the sky is your limit, and at the end of the day if am unhappy…I am not here for tea party, am on a special assignment by the president."
• A person identified as Abdulkareem with a 98% degree of certainty said: "I was the one who created road blocks, I was the officer on ground sir.")

The primary sample provided to Guardian Consulting is identified as "The Recording" for filing purposes.

METHODOLOGY
Starting with provided sample, identified here as The Recording, voices were isolated and five voices were positively identified as uniquely identical through voice print analysis. One additional background voice fragment was isolated but no identification was made (n.b. It is possible that the additional voice came one of the five subjects but was distorted due to a recording or transmission glitch). The unidentified voice fragment was fleeting and did not make up a substantial part of the conversation.

The Forensic Voice System ("FVS") measures including frequencies discernable by the human ear as well as others above and below human recognition. Patterns of the frequencies are entered into the FVS in which a

Frequency Voice Print is then produced and displayed. The Voice Print is quantified for comparison.
The process was repeated with the provided known samples and Voice Prints were established for each of the five subjects.

Identical words were identified from The Recording and the known samples. Each of the identical words was printed. The prints were then compared leading to the following conclusion:
• Governor Ayo Fayose was found to match the public sample to a 98% or greater degree of scientific certainty.
• Senator Iyiola Omisore was found to match the public sample to a 98% or greater degree of scientific certainty.
• Honourable Abdulkareem was found to match the public sample to a 98% or greater degree of scientific certainty.
• Caleb Olubolade was found to match the public sample to a 98% or greater degree of scientific certainty.

. Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro was found to match the public sample to a 80% or greater degree of scientific certainty.
The prints were further analyzed for veracity. No substantive untruths were identified: 85% of the conversations were deemed to contain identifiable veracity to a 98% degree of certainty. The remaining 15% was identified as inconclusive.

The findings are based on the samples supplied. We relied on public identification of the known samples.
Further analysis of the voice attributed to Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro may result in a higher degree of certainty, but quality of the original recording not the additional publicly available samples are the primary reason for this level of veracity being listed. Further analysis against the new samples will be completed on Monday December 1.

The growing speculation that the elections might be postponed speaks volumes of someone's election jitters. But who will it benefit most between Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) and President Goodluck Jonathan if the elections are postponed? The Independent National Electoral Commission had four years to prepare for February elections. How come it waited till the 11th hour to start distributing PVCs? Nawa ooo.

People should know that no amount of scheming and manoeuvring can stop Nigerians now. The much clamoured change must be achieved, especially now that the masses have become more politically conscious and every discuss around the country over the past few weeks has been centred on politics. Politicians who have been blinded to the plight of the people should realise that mere rhetoric won't cut it for them anymore. Nigerians are demanding for a change. The people are not smiling anymore. Whether it is a new regime taking over or a return of the incumbent, whoever takes the seat better know that a better Nigeria is non negotiable anymore.

It is a shame it took us this long to realise the power we have as a people. But it will be the funeral of any politician who's dumb not to realise that it won't be business as usual and that their campaign for re-election is by providing the dividends of democracy from the very minute they are sworn into office. I guess if someone told President Jonathan that Buhari is going to have a huge support from the masses, he would have done more to secure his place for another term by providing the basic amenities demanded by the people. Getting re-elected shouldn't be difficult for any public office holder who has the interest of the people at heart.

Elections are zero-sum affairs. The more the Nigerian people perceive the incumbent as successful the less likely they are to vote for the opposition in the next election. And delivering democratic dividends (not just on billboards or on pages of newspapers), undercuts the whole logic of the opposition's campaign against any incumbent or the incumbent's party's continuation in office.

Is Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State the Director General of Buhari and Akin Ambode's campaign group. As governor, he is the father of everyone in the state including Jimi Agbaje, Ambode and every other contestant. He shouldn't be replying or throwing jabs at any contestant no matter the political parties they represent. With Agbaje's tax issue, the governor should have directed the Lagos State Inland Revenue Service to look into the matter and if Agbaje is found wanting, he should be referred to INEC for appropriate sanctions.

Whoever is in charge of Ambode's campaign team should be given a raise. A couple of weeks back, a lot of lagosians including myself didn't know who Ambode is. In fact, I had to call friends in Alausa to inquire about him. But judging from the awareness his campaign has generated in just a few weeks, if the governorship election of Lagos State is decided by that, your guess is as good as mine.

Lagos State is officially looking like one big political photo album or the living room of a wall paper merchant. Every wall or fence in the state is covered with campaign posters of all sort. I thought Lagos State government placed a ban on pasting of posters in the state. Or is the ban meant for only entertainers? Well, now I guess those guys pasting those white tacky A4 size posters with "House-girl or Plumber needed" have gotten all the encouragement they need.

I think Buhari has attended more church services than many Christians in the past weeks. Is he not trying too hard to convince us that he is not a religious fanatic? At this age and time, we should be discouraging sentiments in politics. Using the church for political campaigns is not exactly doing that. One question is, is Buhari or Jonathan going to church to give their lives to Christ and be born again? Should the church be allowed for political campaigns? If a pastor chooses to hire out his church auditorium for campaigns, is the congregation supposed to be included as part of the deal? We attend church on Sundays to hear the unadulterated word of God and not to listen to manifesto recitals.

Did Buhari pull out of the presidential debate for the same reasons given by his party? Well, we are not buying all that gist. I think it is the soldier in Buhari that took that decision. Being a good soldier goes beyond matching to war. It is also knowing when to go to war and when to sit at home. Buhari's decision was smart indeed and I would have done the same if I was in his position. As weird as it sounds, he doesn't seem like someone who can beat Jonathan in a debate. I have already pictured Jonathan entering the debate with a confident grin on his face like a kid strolling to receive his report card in front of his parents, knowing he had come first in class. A debate between Jonathan and Buhari would have been like a boxing bout between Mike Tyson and Bash Ali. There's only one outcome. TKO!

According to Premium Times, a Nigerian Army Captain, who leaked the audio evidence of how some top officials of the Federal Government and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, used the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to rig the governorship election in Ekiti and Osun States last year, has spoken out about the matter.

In a statement entitled: "How Nigerian Army personnel were used to rig Ekiti and Osun States Gubernatorial Elections 2014″, Captain Sagir Koli gave details of all that transpired between himself, his commanding officer, two ministers and some politicians prior to the elections in Ekiti state.

He also spoke about the elaborate plans made to replicate the Ekiti scenario in Osun state last August. See the full text of his submission below:

Staff In Confidence

How the Nigerian Army personal were used to Rig Ekiti and Osun States Gubernatorial Elections 2014.

1. I was officially deployed as the 32, Artillery Brigade Intelligence Officer to provide credible Intelligence to the success of Ekiti State governorship election. At about 2030 hours on June 2014, a day to the election proper, the commander, Brigadier General AA Momoh told me to escort him to a place where the State Minister for Defence wanted to see him.

Reaching the place (Spotless Hotel in Ado- Ekiti), which serves as coordinating campaign office for the PDP candidate Mr. Ayodele Fayose, we met the Minister himself, Minister of Police Affairs, Mr Fayose, Mr. Iyiola Omisore, one Honoruable Abdulkareem and host of other top PDP chieftains.

The Outcome of what was discussed that gave the party victory during the election are as follows:

A. They told brigade commander that they are on presidential assignment and they cannot afford to fail. Also, they told him that they were there to remove any obstacles that would block their victory and the commander is the key; therefore, he has no option but to collaborate with them. They said, if the commander play(ed) with them, his promotion is in their hands and the president and the chief of army Staff would be very angry with him and he knows what that means.

B. They directed that soldiers on election duty must work hand in hand with the PDP agents and give them all the necessary support they needed without limitation.

C. They ordered the arrest of selected APC stalwarts that could greatly assist the party during the election including the DG campaign organisation for Dr Fayemi Mr. Bimbo Daramola. APC members in Ekiti State should be interviewed of what they went through. We were forced to do a dirty job for them with a threat of court martial.

D. They directed that soldiers must block APC members' access to the electorates but all PDP supporters' movement anywhere using a designated sticker with inscription, "National Security Task" it should be noted that some of these PDP agents were given NYSC uniforms because we were well briefed by the commander.

E. Chief Chris Uba who also said he was from the presidency entered Ado- Ekiti a day to the election accompanied by 16 commissioned Army officers (Major and blow) led by Major Ujung of 82 Base Ammunitions Depot from Nigeria Army 82 Division Enugu. Their major task was to effect arrest and move secret materials and money. This money was brought from CBN Umuahia.

F. Chief Chris Uba was physically present with the soldiers and the commander at Forward Operational Base (FOB) close to government house in Ado- Ekiti. He personally supervised the movement of the strike force. This act of a civilian directing military operation is highly unprofessional and tarnishing of the military discipline and regimentation.

G. Chief Chris Uba entered Ado-Ekiti a day to the election accompanied by military/police escort with 2 black tinted Hilux Vans with "secret" materials according to him. Items inside the vans were 1000/500 Naria notes closed and cloned marked ballot papers.

H. Chris Uba, Minster of police Affairs, Obanikoro and Co said this is just a test run that should not fail and its to be done in SS and SW states, moreover, Rivers State to make sure Rotimi Ameachi bow to the federal government.

2. Based on the aforementioned, they succeeded in rigging the Ekiti State election with victory in all the 16 LGAs. These really inspired them and they were with the euphoria that same would happen in Osun State. In preparation of the plans, they confirmed the posting of the commander and task him to prepare for Osun State election (remember that Osun State is not part of 32 Artillery Brigade Area of operations) but they ordered the Nigerian Army Construction Engineers Commander Brigadier General Adeyemi to proceed for 3 weeks compulsory leave until after the election just to pave way for General Momah to repeat the same dirty work that he has done to them in Ekiti State.

3. In build-up towards the Osun State elections, the commander directed me as his intelligence officer who has worked with him perfectly in Ekiti State to go ahead and recce the area as well as familiarize myself with all stake holders for the election.

While I and my team were working for the operations, the commander was in Abuja re-strategizing how to use the military to rig the elections. Feelers based on my discussion with him on phone confirmed to me beyond reasonable doubt that we were repeating the same compromise in Osun State. My heart got burnt and become disenchanted and in total disagreement with such being professional junior officer aspiring to become a General tomorrow.

4. However efforts to explain my grievances prove abortive due to the military dictatorial hierarchy in channel of communication vis a vis threat of court martial from the commander. I resorted to alert the APC high level officials with the aim of stopping Army from partisan involvement during election. A week to the election, the commander came back from Abuja and he made revelations being their final arrangement on how the PDP was to become victorious in Osun state as follows:

A. After welcome address by the commander, he thanked all his staff officers, and said "you all know who we are working for, so you guys MUST follow my direction. I am working for the presidency and the ruling party as you all know, is no longer a hidden thing" for those of you who are moles among us, the presidency is watching you, be careful because the consequence will be severe. I learnt that some of you went to Lagos and met with Tinubu without knowing that his line is already bugged at Abuja, then we are in trouble, but before somebody will kill me I have to kill him first" (referring to me). The commander asked how many of us were involved, that I should say the truth, he now held a secret talk with the operation officer and military police officer to tie and handcuff me to Army HQs, from there I know that my life was in danger.

B. The commander categorically told us that the soldiers were to work under PDP agents while their platoon commanders only supervise the soldiers conduct. He briefed the officers that were working the list of agents and those to be arrested at the SGF office in Abuja and once the list is out everybody must work with accordingly.

C. The commander briefed us on the formation of a strike-force in conjunction with police, DSS and

NSCDC and he would command the strike force directly. Their duty was to work directly with the PDP aspirant for arrest and intimidation of APC supporters in their strong hold.

A, My brother Adamu Koli a 15yrs old school boy was under detention since on the 2nd August 2014. The boy stays with me at 32 Artillery Brigade Akure.

B. Brigadier General AM Dikko who they consulted initially for the scam insisted that the army must remain professional and apolitical, was disgracefully removed from his command which he served only for 7 months just to allow General Momoh to carry out the dirty work.

Last but not the least, to further substantiate my submission and how my dear-loving, hard-achieving noble calling was de-professionalized; here is the recorded voices of the Ministers, the aspirant and the Brigade Commander. Other officers present at the hotel were Major Aliyu and captain Adegoke who were also part of the officers that escorted commander to the venue where the compromise was made.
