A Miss World contestant has disappeared days before she was due to fly to London for the 2014 competition. Maria Jose Alvarado - recently crowned Miss Honduras - vanished along with her sister Sofia Trinidad after attending a friend's party last Thursday according to Mirror.co.uk.

Four people, including Sofia's boyfriend, have been arrested.

Maria, 19, and her sister had been spending time with their parents in Honduras' crime-ridden city Santa Barbara before she was due to fly to the UK to represent her country.

Police chief Jose Coello originally said they were not treating the pair's disappearance as a crime. But today it emerged four people including Sofia's boyfriend had been arrested and were being questioned as the last-known people to see them alive.

Mother of both girls Teresa de Jesus pleaded last night: "Open your hearts and understand my pain.           

"There is an all-powerful God that sees everything and I hope you set them free."

Maria Jose describes herself on a Miss World website profile as an aspiring diplomat who enjoys playing volleyball and football in her spare time.

A top model who appeared as a cover girl for Prada, L'Oreal and Elle has been found dead in her bath. Katerina Netolicka, 26, was discovered slumped in the tub at the home she shared with ice-hockey player boyfriend Jakub Petruzalek, 29.

Netolicka's body was found by her brother in the property in the Czech Republic after he became worried when she did not answer his telephone calls.

Her boyfriend was out of the country at the time taking part in a match in Russia, where he plays for ice hockey club Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg.

The couple had been together for five years.

After going to the apartment and failing to get an answer when he knocked Katerina's brother broke the door down and found the model and her two pet dogs dead.

Friends of the model, who began her modelling career in 2004 and was also known for kickboxing after winning the Czech Championships last month, say she was prone to depression.

A fellow model who lived with her in New York seven-years-ago but who did not want to be named told local media: "Sometimes she acted like two totally different people lived inside her.

"One minute she was very happy, almost ecstatic. Then sometimes she was depressed and used to self-harm."

But another friend, Adrian Smrcka, said: "I really don't know what could have happened.

"Maybe she got a spasm after kickbox training, or maybe it was a stroke.

"I know she had stopped self-harming and was very happy with her boyfriend."

Grieving fans and friends have now taken to the model's Facebook to express their shock and sadness.

London (AFP) - The British government said it was investigating reports that "Jihadi John", the British-accented Islamic State militant apparently responsible for the beheading of western hostages, had been injured in a US air strike.

According to the paper, he was taken to hospital following the US-led attack on a bunker in Al Qaim, western Iraq, on November 8 that killed around 10 IS commanders and wounded 40 more.


The Mail reported that it was the same attack that injured elusive IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, sparking initial rumours that he had been killed.

"Jihadi John", named after Beatle John Lennon due to his British background, is believed to be responsible for the murders of US journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff and British aid workers David Haines and Allan Henning.

British Prime Minister David Cameron, asked about the reports while at the G20 summit in Brisbane, said: "We should be in no doubt that I want 'Jihadi John' to face justice for the appalling acts that have been carried out in Syria, but I wouldn't make any comment on individual issues or strikes and the like, you wouldn't expect me to.

"I think the point though is clear, if people travel to Syria or Iraq in order to conduct terror operations against British people, British citizens, or people back here in Britain, then they are putting themselves in harm's way, they shouldn't be in any doubt about that."

Despite being a foreigner, the masked assassin, who goes by the nom de guerre Jalman Al-Britani, has become a leading figure in the Islamist group that swept across Syria and northern Iraq.

The Mail claimed that a nurse who treated some of those wounded in the attack said there was a man named Jalman on her list, referring to him as "the one who slaughtered the journalists".

The wounded men were then driven to the IS's Syrian stronghold of Raqa, according to the Mail's source.

A woman was stripped naked, down to her birthday suit in the middle of central Nairobi last Tuesday. And after a video of the incident made its way online, it sparked a bitter outrage.

According to reports, the woman was attacked because she was dressed provocatively. She was at a bus stop when men believed to be touts surrounded her, ripped her clothes off, kicked her in her private parts and called her 'Jezebel' for "tempting" them amid her screams and cries for help.


The video of the assault was caught on camera by a guy who made sure he got all her lady parts in
the video and later on posted on Youtube. He was not even interested in stopping the public humiliation. Youtube eventually took the video down.

Social media users debated the incident using hashtag #MyDressMyChoice and even on Choc City singer Victoria Kimani's IG page some hours ago, she had to lash out at her followers who blamed the lady for dressing provocatively in the first place. Read the reactions below.
