2015 - Tears And Sorrow In Imo: Federal House Of Reps Aspirant Assassinated
Unknown gunmen suspected to be assassins, Tuesday night, gunned down Hon. Kingsley Nkemka, a former member of Imo state House of Assembly and aide to the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu.

Hon. Nkemka, until his untimely death, was a top contending aspirant for the Mbaitoli/Ikeduru federal constituency seat at the House of Representatives on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

According to a release made available to House
correspondents by the Senior Special Assistant (Media) to the Speaker, Imo state House of Assembly, Mr. Chukwuemeka Ahaneku, Hon. Nkemka, who was visibly hale and hearty at the resumption of sitting of the House at the Assembly chambers that Tuesday, dutifully undertook his official responsibilities before news of the unfortunate incident filtered in.

Mr. Ahaneku, further confirmed that Hon. Nkemka, had after the plenary of the House, travelled to some of the electoral Wards in Mbaitoli LGA which is part of the federal constituency he is aspiring to represent, in continuation of visits to some party leaders in the area to adequately fine-tune necessary requirements needed for an eventual Ward meetings scheduled to take place the next day.
He continued that immediately after his visit, Mr. Nkemka reportedly made a brief stopover at the popular T-junction, Ohaohia Mbieri, to also meet with one of his supposed facilitators who had called him between 8-9pm.

The release went on to reveal that at the point of contact between him and a said facilitator, together with his Campaign DG, the hoodlums numbering about five suddenly barged into the scene, kicked out his facilitator, ransacked his pockets and shot him on his ankle, while ordering him into the booth of his Toyota car where they finally shot him at close range.

It went on to state that the office of the Speaker had alerted the Police on getting the news of the incident, which has subsequently produced results, as several arrests linking the murder had been made.

It continued that the Imo state House of Assembly, especially his colleagues at the office of the Speaker, has been thrown into mourning on receiving the sad news, as many described him as a worthy and an easy-going gentleman, whose mutual respect to his co-workers and dedication to duty would be a strong point to remember in his lifetime.

Mr. Ahaneku, added that the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, who was on an official assignment to Abuja, expressed his utmost devastation to the painful incident and promised that the security agencies in the state would be given the maximum co-operation needed to unmask those behind the heinous crime and bring them to justice.

He maintained that Hon. Nkemka, would be remembered for his unwavering loyalty and strong dedication to his duties and wondered why anyone in his right senses would hatch and execute such "wicked act", even when he is quietly going about his political activities without offending anyone.
