If you won an Oscar, who would you be the first to thank? God, your mum, your cat, or your director?
Vocativ analysed 1,396 Oscar acceptance speeches to find out whose name has been dropped the most, and the results were quite a shock!
Amount of times name-dropped in acceptance speeches
All five of the most-thanked people in Oscar speeches have been film directors - Peter Jackson, who directed the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, George Lucas (Star Wars), James Cameron (Titanic and Avatar), Harvey Weinstein (produced Shakespeare in Love), and Steven Spielberg (Jaws, E.T. and Jurassic Park).
God came SIXTH in the most-thanked list, and 'my mother' didn't seem to feature at all.
So, if your child wins an Oscar, they're more likely to thank their producer or director than the person who paid for all their acting lessons.
As a side note - every single person (including, possibly, God) in the top six most-thanked was a white man.
Top six most thanked
Perhaps our favourite acceptance speech this time round was Patricia Arquette's, Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Boyhood.
She thanked: "Every woman who gave birth, to every taxpayer and citizen of this nation, we have fought for everybody else's equal rights,"
And went on to say: "It's our time to have wage equality once and for all and equal rights for women in the United States of America!"
"
You have to do a pretty good speech to deserve a standing ovation from Meryl Streep, but Patricia managed it.
