Sierra Leone Re-Opens Schools Nine Months After Ebola Outbreak

Sierra Leone has now re-opened all her educational institutes of learning across the country. The schools were shut down about nine months ago when the deadly Ebola virus hit the country and has killed over 10,000 Africans.

Some students were however glad that the schools are now opened, while some said, they felt the government should have waited for WHO to declare the country free of the virus before asking them to come back to school. The government has also however advised students to practice what it calls "avoid-body-contact-method" to ensure their safety in schools.

Gov. Aliyu Encourages PDP Members, Don't Think You Have Failed

Governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu who would be leaving office on May 29th, has encouraged PDP party chieftains and members not to think they have failed woefully in the past general elections, assuring them that they are not failures and neither is the party dead. Aliyu says the party will soon call for a meeting from the federal to state level to strategize for 2019.

"Our party is not dead. When all these cools down, we will properly re-organise to bring PDP back to its formidable political strength. Many things have happened and this is not the time for us to apportion blame.

"I therefore hope that when we will have to re-organise our party, we would add ideology to what we have. Let me urge you to stop thinking you have failed. In terms of elections, particularly the time we found ourselves, it went beyond the limits of individual effort," he said, when the Umar Nasko Campaign Organization visited him today at the Government house in Minna.

A Federal Capital Territory High Court in Apo, Abuja, has lifted an injunction barring former President Olusegun Obasanjo from publishing his autobiography, 'My Watch', Punch reports.

Justice Valentine Ashi ordered on the release of the books which had been in the custody of the Nigerian Customs Service.

The books were intercepted by the Nigerian Customs on the strength of the court injunction which was granted on December 10, 2014.

But Justice Valentine Ash set aside the order of injunction on Monday upon an application by Obasanjo, through his lawyer, Chief Kanu Agabi (SAN).
‎
The court asked the customs not to collect demurrage on the books for the period they had overspent in their custody.

The court upheld Agabi's argument that the applicant, a Peoples Democratic Party chief in Ogun State, Buruji Kashamu, who is currently pursuing a N20bn libel suit against Obasanjo in the same court, suppressed vital facts to obtain the order.
